Investigating The Mueller Investigation -Stone Washington

What does the Mainstream Media mean by “Russia-Trump collusion”? Why does President Donald Trump constantly refer to the investigation as a witch-hunt against him? Who are the persons of interest at the center of the FBI probe? These are crucial questions that many Americans are oblivious toward, yet remains a contentious subject discussed methodically almost every day in hundreds of news articles and left-leaning news organizations, constantly examining the FBI investigation against the Trump Organization. This controversial event began in July 2016 with former FBI Director James Comey, inspired by Democrats in Congress and the Washington DC based commercial firm Fusion GPS, along with Comey’s close friend and head FBI special counsel investigator Robert Mueller. The two began a multi-faceted investigation on notable individuals in the Trump family who are suspected of having illegal communications and connections with Russian governmental operatives during the 2016 Presidential Election.

Beginning May 2017, Mueller was appointed by Acting Attorney General under President Trump, Rod Rosenstein, to be the head of a special counsel overseeing the ongoing investigation into Trump-Russian collusion. Rosenstein’s primary intent to launch the investigation was to, in his own words, discover “any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump”. The investigation seeks to uncover and make known any and all communications made between Trump Campaign officials and operatives connected to the Russian government at the time of the 2016 Election, along with intercepting and examining any financial records and collaborations made between the Trump Organization and Russian officials. President Trump issued a statement in May 2017, shortly after the announcement of the special investigation was made known, in which he said,

“As I have stated many times, a thorough investigation will confirm what we already know – there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity. I look forward to this matter concluding quickly. In the meantime, I will never stop fighting for the people and the issues that matter most to the future of our country.”

Notable Trump Family members have been directly questioned by the FBI and forced to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee throughout the year, including Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. and son-in-law Jared Kushner. Donald Trump Jr. was suspected of seeking damaging material on Democratic Presidential candidate of the time, Hillary Clinton, having met with a Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya in the summer of 2016, along with former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner, on the basis of adoptions of Russian children by Americans. This, along with several other Russian officials, most notably Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, having met with key members of Trump’s Administration, such as Attorney General Jeff Sessions, that has sparked an ongoing frenzy in left-leaning news networks such as, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, and ABC, sometimes devoting entire hour-long news segments toward adding their own partisan spin on the investigation.

These left-leaning networks are noted for repeatedly bashing the President on his supposed collusion with the Russian government, with many commentators ultimately believing Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin conspired together to defeat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Election. Regardless of the partisan views expressed by these networks, Fox News and more conservative leaning networks have tended to balance their focus of the Russian investigation, revealing more substantive data that tend to question whether the investigation is merely a political witch-hunt devised by Democrats seeking to delegitimize President Trump’s Administration and devise Articles of Impeachment.

A recent Fox News article reports on the latest breaking story surrounding the legitimacy of the investigation in how Mueller fired an FBI deputy Peter Strzok, who reportedly held a pro-Clinton and anti-Trump bias when involved in the Russian investigation. With the ongoing investigation reaching its fifth month of results as of December, many question whether it will be over soon as President Trump predicted, or will proceed throughout the majority of Trump’s first term in office. With all this information to keep in mind, two conflicting questions remain: is this investigation a legitimate and necessary probe into illegal relationships between the Trump Administration and Russian officials? Or is this truly a political witch-hunt against President Trump by Democrats in Congress and the FBI? Only time will tell.
